When planning a destination wedding on the Italian Riviera, most couples dream of endless sunshine and the sparkling blue waters of Santa Margherita Ligure.

However, as any seasoned photographer knows, Mother Nature often has her own artistic vision.

A Sudden Change of Scenery

Just as the final touches were being placed for the seaside vows, a sudden storm rolled in from the Mediterranean. While a downpour might stress any couple, Oliviero and Minqi handled it with incredible grace.

This is where the power of a professional team truly shines. Led by wedding planner Ilaria Veggi, the staff moved the entire celebration to the hotel’s historic portico. What could have been a setback turned into a moment of pure, atmospheric magic. The sound of the rain against the stone and the sheltered, intimate light of the portico created a setting that felt even more exclusive and romantic.

Finding Joy in the Unexpected

As a destination wedding photographer, I find that some of the most "genuine" moments happen when the "perfect" plan shifts. Without the pressure of a choreographed outdoor entrance, the energy became spontaneous, carefree, and deeply personal.

The laughter was louder, the embraces were tighter, and the joy was completely unfiltered. These images are a testament to the fact that a wedding isn't about the weather—it’s about the connection between two people and the community that surrounds them.
