NICE TO MEET YOU
I am Flavio Bandiera
I was born in northern Italy, in a darkroom.
My father was a landscape photographer. I grew up watching him take photographs in the studio and develop and print them at night. He also taught me to study the great Italian and European painters.
I still look for that light today. That sense of composition I first saw in galleries. It is probably why I believe a wedding photograph should be interesting not only today, but in thirty years. That is what I call timeless.
After studying computer science, I chose photography as my profession at 24. Since 1991 I have photographed couples and families, first in Italy, then across Europe from 2004, then worldwide from 2009.
MANIFESTO
Why I photograph only 25 celebrations a year
When passion for people meets three decades of experience, the result is presence.
I do not photograph weddings. I photograph 2 to 3 days of celebration, from the Lakes to Tuscany and beyond. Small gatherings where I have time to see, to wait, to be fully present for you and your guests.
This is why I accept only 25 celebrations a year.
My style is fusion
Candid for what is real. Fashion for how you want to remember yourself. Classic for what must remain timeless. Three languages that merge into one.
Italy is home. The world is work.
I live in northern Italy, close to Switzerland and France, and 90 percent of my work is abroad.
My home ground is Lake Como, Tuscany, Venice, Rome and the Amalfi Coast. Every year I also photograph in Northern Europe, the USA and France, especially the Loire Valley at Château Challain, where I return often.
I also photograph pre-wedding stories in Paris, London and Rome.

Get to know me
I have seen hundreds of families being born. Here is mine.
Mihaela and our daughter Aurora. We live in the hills of Piedmont and we travel as much as we can, combining work with small explorations. Having a globetrotting father, at 8 years old Aurora has already visited 12 countries.
It is our way of teaching her that beauty is meeting people from different cultures.
