For the welcome dinner, the chosen theme was 'Italy,' featuring beautifully decorated tables adorned with a dominant yellow, reminiscent of the famous lemons of the Amalfi Coast.
Fabrizio + Christina
Fabrizio and Christina live in Germany, but their roots are Italian and Bulgarian.
As is often the case at Château Challain, a fairytale castle in France’s Loire Valley where couples from all over the world come to celebrate, Fabrizio and Christina chose it as the setting for their wedding. Their two cultures naturally shaped the organization and theme of the whole event.
The welcome dinner had an Italian theme: tables dressed in bright yellow, a nod to the famous lemons of the Amalfi Coast.
After dinner, guests gathered outside for a fire show by Enigma Art. Set to live music, the performers turned fire into shapes and patterns that held everyone’s attention, the couple included, until the very last flame.
The next day began with a church ceremony that brought together Catholic and Orthodox traditions, honoring the faiths of both families. It was one of the most moving ceremonies I have photographed at the château.
In late June the Loire Valley gave us a warm, gentle evening for the outdoor reception. Shine Live Band played music from every corner of the world, and soon guests of all ages were on the dance floor.
Fabrizio, Christina and the mix of their cultures gave this wedding a character all its own, and gave me moments of real joy alongside their guests. A personal note: after countless sessions at Château Challain, this was the first time I could work in my native Italian, since the groom is Italian. That detail, among many others, made these two days special for me.
